Training begins with a detailed initial consultation. During this session we discuss your dog’s history, behaviour, environment and daily routine (some of this will also be covered in a consultation form). This allows us to understand the underlying causes of the behaviour and identify clear training goals.
Following the consultation, a tailored training plan is developed based on the individual dog and owner.
Please Note: Training sessions take place in your dog’s home environment or suitable local locations. Working in the dog’s everyday environment helps address behaviour where it naturally occurs.
Every dog learns differently, so training plans are designed to suit the dog’s temperament, learning style and environment. The training plan may focus on areas such as communication, management strategies, skill building and improving the dog’s confidence in different environments.
Follow-up sessions guide both the dog and owner through the training process step by step. Sessions may take place in the home, on walks or in carefully chosen outdoor environments depending on the behaviour being addressed. These sessions allow us to build on previous progress and gradually introduce new skills or challenges.
Consistency between sessions is an important part of successful training. Clients receive guidance throughout their programme and can contact Golden Canine Co. for brief questions or updates between sessions. Some programmes may also include Walk & Train sessions or owner coaching walks (depending on the individual training plan), where training exercises are practised during structured 1:1 walks to help reinforce behaviours in real-life environments.
Training progresses at a pace that supports the dog’s welfare, confidence and learning ability. Behaviour change takes time, patience and consistency, and each dog’s journey will look slightly different.
The goal is always to create practical, sustainable improvements that help both dog and owner feel more confident in everyday situations.
